In-keeping with ‘disgusting’ users, the colour purple and blue, and a few variations of purple will be used to design the branding and elements of the iPhone app.
Plutchik’s wheel of emotions is an inforgraph that uses the color wheel to illustrate variations in human affect and the relationship among emotions (Rouse, 2012). The wheel shows purple and it’s variations to evoke feelings of boredom, loathing and disgust.
According to Kendra Cherry of About.com Psychology, blue is one of the most popular colors, but it is one of the least appetizing. Some weight loss plans even recommend eating your food off of a blue plate. Blue rarely occurs naturally in food aside from blueberries and some plums. Also, humans are geared to avoid foods that are poisonous and blue coloring in food is often a sign of spoilage or poison.
